Προσωπικά πολύ σπάνια αξιολογώ ένα άλμπουμ με βαθμό 10 από τα 10. Χαρακτηρίζω αρκετά συχνά άλπουμς με επίθετα όπως ''αξιόλογο'', ''εξαιρετικό'', ''περίφημο'' αλλα σπάνια χαρακτηρίζω κάτι ''τεράστιο'' και ''αξιοθαύμαστο''. Αυτα ειναι δύο επίθετα που πιστευω χαρακτηρίζουν απόλυτα το Steel The Light και σε καμία περίπτωση δεν ειναι υπερβολή. Κάθε φορά που το ακούω μου αρέσει ακόμα περισσότερο. Δεν θα το χαρακτήριζα υποτιμημένο, αφού ειναι ένα άγνωστος δίσκος για πολλους από ένα συγκρότημα που αμφιβάλλω αν το πρόσεξε ποτέ κανείς. Εννιά πραγματικά υπέροχα κομμάτια και 37 λέπτα που τελειώνουν πριν καν το καταλάβεις. Παρόλο που στις μέρες του το άλμπουμ είσπραξε πολύ καλές κριτικές , δεν πούλησε καθόλου και έτσι αγνοήθηκε.
Ειναι ένας δίσκος ο οποίος πιστεύω γεφυρώνει τέλεια τα 'βαρέτα' συγκροτήματα των 70s με το heavy metal των 80s. Φανταστικά φωνητικά από τον Jonathan K. και εκπληκτικά riffs στις κιθάρες από τους Floyd Rose και Rick Pierce σε όλη την διάρκεια του δίσκου. Μου ειναι ιδαίτερα δύσκολο να ξεχωρίσω κάποια κομμάτια αφού πιστεύω οτι κανένα δεν υστερεί. Αν θα έκανα κάποια διάκριση αυτη θα ήταν για το 'Missing in Action'' το οποίο ανοίγει τον δίσκο και βάζει τον πήχη και τις προσδοκίες του ακροατή πολύ ψηλά, το ''Lonely Lady'' με το πολύ πιασάρικο riff και το τρομερό του σόλο στην κιθάρα, το ''Steel the Light'' που αν και κρατά ένα αργό τέμπο ωθεί σε ένα αργό, ρυθμικό και πάνω απ'όλα απολαυστικό headbang. Το ''Come and Gone'' ειναι μια μπαλάντα που έρχεται να 'κολλήσει' σε αυτο το άλμπουμ τέλεια κρατώντας την ροή και το ύφος της μπάντας ανέπαφη. Ένα άλπουμ από αυτα που θα ήθελες να είχες αν ήσουν ναυαγός σε ένα έρημο νησί.
I often characterise an album as a ''remarkable'', ''nice'' or ''satisfactory'' effort by bands, but very rarely i say the words ''huge'' and ''marvelous'' for something. These are two adjectives that give the full picture of Steel the Light and I am not exaggerating at all. Every time I hear this album I like it even more. I would not say it is underestimated because it is not even known and it is coming from a band who no one ever noticed. Nine fabulous songs and 37 minutes which end before you even realize it. Although in it's days this album took very positive reviews it didn't sell much and it was ignored.
It is an album which I believe bridges perfectly the 'heavy' bands of 70s with the heavy metal ones of the 80s. Fantastic vocals from Jonathan K. and blistering riffs from Floyd Rose and Rick Pierce throughout the album. I find it extremely difficult to distinguish good songs from bad ones because none falls short. However, I would distinct mostly the opening track ''Missing in Action'' which passes like a hurricane and sets the bar and the expectations of the listener very high, ''Lonely Lady'' with the catchy riff and the tremendous guitar solo and ''Steel the Light'' with the slow tempo which drives you to a slow, rhythmic and enjoyable headbang. A ballad is not missing from the record and ''Come and Gone'' manages to keep the flow and style untouched and coherent. Simply magnificent.
In simple words, one of those albums you would wish to have with you if you were deserted on an island.
